Flight Club
:
a private-jet membership site on Client-First

Flight Club is a private-jet membership from Silver Air: members prepay a flight balance and book charters, including one-way flights. I built the site in Webflow on Client-First from the client's designs, so any developer after me can read the build.

01 ยท The brief

The brief what
Flight Club
needed

Flight Club is Silver Air's private-jet membership: members prepay a flight balance and use it for charters, including one-way flights. The audience is small and expects the site to feel as considered as the service, so the pages lean on large imagery, video and generous, editorial layouts.

The client's team supplied the designs. My job was to build them in Webflow exactly as drawn, set up a journal the team can publish to, and leave a build any developer can pick up. Success meant pages that held the design on every screen size, and a team that could edit them without me.

Three constraints shaped the build

  1. 01

    The designs were fixed

Flight Club's team supplied the designs. My job was to build them exactly as drawn, on phone and desktop.

  2. 02

    An editorial layout

Long-form pages had to read well at every width.

  3. 03

    A build others take over

Flight Club's team edits the site day to day and brings bigger changes back to me.

02 ยท Key decisions

Key decisions and why I made them

Three calls that shaped the build, each with the reason behind it and what it cost.

  1. 01

    Client-First naming throughout

    Decided
Finsweet Client-First classes on every page.
    Why
Any developer who works on the site after me can read the class names and find their way around.
    Trade-off
Client-First names are longer than ad-hoc ones, and keeping them consistent takes discipline.
  2. 02

    Type set as variables

    Decided
The type scale set as Webflow variables.
    Why
Headings and body text stay consistent across every page, and one change updates them all.
    Trade-off
Variables take planning before the first page is built.
  3. 03

    A journal in the CMS

    Decided
Journal posts run from one CMS collection on a single template.
    Why
The team publishes news and stories by filling in fields, without touching the layout.
    Trade-off
Every post shares one layout, so a one-off design needs a developer.
